You’ve got to laugh sometimes at the Puritanical attitudes of the mainstream press towards promiscuity, swinging and, quite frankly, any manner of sexual activity which departs in any way from straight “vanilla” monogamy. However, I do sometimes find myself getting needlessly incensed over what I read, especially when it’s written by someone who’s obviously not ventured down that well-trodden path spreading misinformation which blatantly flies in the face of personal experience.

Case in point: In a recent “Swinging and Swapping” article posted in the Dear Deirde advice column in The Sun, agony aunt Dierdre writes, “Judging by the readers who get in touch with me, it is usually the man in a couple who is pressing to try swapping and swinging. In fact, men are often more capable than women of just having sex without getting emotionally involved.”

Bollox. My first girlfriend was a self-confessed serial virgin fucker, prowling about like a slutty, sex-driven succubus stealing the virginity away from her inexperienced male victims willy nilly without ever being bogged down with feelings of emotional attachment. Sometimes, however, such sex therapy articles can take an amusing turn. Take, for example, this excerpt from a Valentines’ themed article entitled “This V-Day, Try a Three-Way” by Daily Nexus sex columnist Jenni Perez (from whom I borrow my riding the love tricycle title) in which she states, “Truth is, many girls have a bi-curious beast roaring to get out. But while they may fantasize almost as much as you do about giving you head between another girl’s tits, they’re aching for an answer to the emotional conflict it poses. In other words, she wants to have her cake and eat it too, but she’s scared that the cake will enjoy fucking other cake so much that it loses all interest in the taste of her frosting.”

Why is it, especially in swinging circles, that all women are assumed en masse to be latent bisexuals in nature? This always gives me a chuckle as, while I do know plenty of bisexual girls, I know even more who are totally straight when it comes down to their sexuality and, of the former, many of these are only “situationally bi-” (i.e. only allowing their female bisexuality to shine through with precisely the right woman under precisely the right circumstances). And what of the boys? Are we somehow genetically exempt from the occasional bisexual binge when faced with another man’s cock in a swinging situation? Bi-curiously – or not bi-curiously as the case may be, the stock answer to this seems to be “no”. Then again, if a lot of these “100% Str8” singles (whom we affectionately refer to as “swingles”) only knew just how turned on a lot of the opposite sex gets when bisexuality rears its horny head, they might have an entirely different take on the matter.
