Maybe the Brits had it right all along…

After feigning shock in my last post over bare breasts on the breakfast table, I decided to do a little research. What I discovered – through the Discovery Channel, no less – is that women in the 1600s commonly exposed one or both breasts in public and in the popular media of the day! Rather than being seen as lewd, it was considered symbolic of a woman’s virtue. To think, Janet Jackson’s controversial “wardrobe malfunction” wouldn’t have even raised an eyebrow in those times (then again, it probably wouldn’t have over here, either)!
